Companies using waterjet cutting know the advantages, but also the limitations of the technology. The fact that there are actually two different water jet cutting principles is relatively unknown: A distinction has to be made between the injection and suspension technology. In the production industry, the injection principle has been predominantly used to date, since this process - in contrast to the suspension process - is continuous. Since this year, however, this fact has changed with ANTs proprietary ConSus technology.
Lower pressure rate, yet difficult materials and large thicknesses - no problem for the efficient suspension jet. Its power is developed at the nozzle, where, unlike the injection, it does not absorb any abrasive and therefore no air (mixing chamber). Solely water and abrasive agents are pressurized in a closed system without air and then pressed through the nozzle. The result is a much higher efficiency, which let the suspension jet cut concrete and steel up to half a meter thick. And this with only 2,500 bar.
Through a strategic partnership, Perndorfer as a specialist in injection and ANT as an expert in suspension now offer the market the advantages of both systems in one system – a worldwide novelty on the market. What does this mean for the industry? Cutting at up to three times higher speed versus injection while achieving a higher quality, is now possible. In the future, a cutting shop can accept more orders as a larger range of materials and thicknesses is covered. Above all, even difficult materials such as ceramics, stainless steel and composites can also be cut without any problems.
Everything is possible. Whether the acquisition of new complete systems or the integration of ConSus into existing cutting systems. With the new Servojet4000 pump, which allows a simple switch between suspension and injection and an adjustment of the control software, the integration of ConSus and the future of waterjet cutting becomes an easy task.
