WAS technology has proven to be especially effective for the dismantling of reactor pressure vessels, control rods, heat exchangers, large scale assemblies and other components of nuclear power plants. Fully remote controlled manipulation allows the safe dismantling in the controlled area above and below water.
Additionally to the turn-key WAS cutting system we supply grippers for removal of cut segments as well as water filtration systems for underwater applications. Solutions supplied by ANT to the nuclear power industry are based on sound experience gained from many projects. They are realized in compliance with the specific regulations and in accordance with authorities and technical supervisors.
Intelligent Modules for Nuclear Industry
ANT’s entry to nuclear technology dates back to the mid 1990’s. At this time we were requested to develop a cutting system dedicated to dismantling the nuclear research reactor in Kahl (VAK), Germany. The cutting system requested for disassembly of the research reactor as well as its internals was Water Abrasive Suspension (WAS) cutting technology, the technology developed by ANT, utilized with remote controlled cutting modules. The solution specifically developed for this reactor has since been proven several times in cutting operations within the control area of nuclear power plants, and can be adapted for specific situations.
For assignments in which other cutting technologies have offered greater benefits we have developed and manufactured cutting solutions based on mechanical or thermal cutting technology.
In practice, remote controlled cutting modules from ANT have proven to be especially efficient and reliable when dismantling reactor pressure vessels, core vessels and their internals, control rods, heat exchangers and other components of nuclear power plants.
Remote manipulation is the key to safe operation in the control area - above and under water. Additionally to turn-key cutting systems we supply grippers dedicated to lift and pack cut segments as well as water treatment units for working in submerged areas.

Nuclear waste management
ANT supplies components for the treatment and handling of radioactive waste. During the design phase we pay special attention to easy integration into existing or new treatment lines. The optimization of the parameters degree of automation, plant safety and ease of integration is conducted within safety guidelines and legal regulations taking into account the economic aspirations of the client.
During transport and handling of nuclear residues, special emphasis is paid to ensure our customers efficient and stable process flows. The ANT team offers the flexibility demanded in accordance with the degree of customization of the components.
