What makes WAS cutting tools of ANT so specific?

Besides the general advantages of the Water Abrasive Suspension (WAS) cutting technology, ANT has developed specific solutions to further improve performance of the Downhole Cutting Heads (DCHs) in great depth and challenging conditions of internal cuts. Even concentric multistring dual bore wells can be completely cut in a single pass.

Core components of
the WAS Cutting Spread

While some components might also be provided by customers, there are several essential core components of ANT included in our standard turnkey Water Abrasive Suspension (WAS) cutting spread.

Abrasive Mixing Units (AMUs)

For the challenging cutting tasks in Offshore applications the most powerful Abrasive Mixing Units with a pressure level of 2,500 bar are suitable.

Our standard WAS offshore spread comes with an ATEX Zone 2 certified complete AMU TWIN 2500-100 system which ensures safe operation and transport as well as interruption-free cutting.

The Lifting Unit consists of a DNV 2.7-1 certified lifting frame and a lifting device which enables fully automated and safe lifting of the two AMU 2500-100. The Switch Box switches the cutting operation from an empty to the other AMU to enable refilling of abrasive without interrupting the cutting process.

Cutting Devices: Downhole Cutting Heads (DCHs) and Pile Cutting Head (PCH)

DCHs and PCH are sophisticated devices for internal cutting of multistring casings and piles. Depending on outer diameter of the inner casings different types of DCH / PCH are available:

  • 7”: DCH 1
  • 9 5/8“, 13 3/8, 16 and 20”: DCH 2
  • 16” to 36”: PCH
  • 30” to 50” and 50” to 72”: DCH 3
  • 70” to 90” and 90” to 118”: DCH 4

By special features like stepless clamping and different nozzle holders they can be adjusted to a wide range of casings. For depth > 150 m an optional CAir (Cutting in Air) System can further improve cutting performance. It is offered for DCH 1 and DCH 2.

DCHs and PCH are operated with a Control System, Hydraulic Power Unit and Air Compressor which are assembled in DNV 2.7-1 certified containers.

3S Cut Verification System

Offshore subsea cutting implies being “blind”, especially during internal cuts of multisting casings. Our 3S cut verification system makes the whole cutting process visible in real time. A variety of sensors are used to display the cut in real time on a monitor, giving the operater reliable feedback and full control during the entire cutting process.

Umbilical

The umbilical includes hydraulic and pneumatic hoses as well as electric cables which provide the supply for DCHs and PCH. In ANT’s turnkey WAS cutting spread it comes as complete Winch Umbilical Reel System, including the Umbilical, Umbilical Reel Winch, Gooseneck and a transport frame.
The Umbilical Reel Winch enables safe, easy and time saving spooling of up to 350 m umbilical while the Gooseneck provides a safe guide rail for the umbilical. For easy transport this system is delivered in DNV 2.7-1 certified base frame.
